Scams related to Obamacare are on the rise as thieves attempt to take advantage of those trying to get health insurance. The sheer number of people who are trying to get insurance through websites and over the phone has opened up a prime opportunity for thieves. People who are getting health insurance through the exchange are required to fill out the forms with sensitive, personal information. Thieves are aware of this and are using dubious methods to distract people from the actual exchange websites.
Thieves are sending out phishing emails that look legitimate in that they "borrow" devices and seals from government websites. In these emails are links that take an unaware user to a scam site that prompts them to fill out the required information to get health insurance. Said unaware user, thinking that they are on a legitimate site, fills out the information, submits the form and gets their personal information stolen.
Don't become a victim of fraud and don't click on links in emails claiming to get you insurance. There is still plenty of time to sign up and get coverage. Being patient with the sites pays off in the long run with your personal identity intact.
