Is Your Home Ready For The Fall Season? Is Your Home Ready For The Fall Season?
If you're a homeowner, maintaining your home is one of your biggest responsibilities and preparing your home for the fall season is something that must be done before the winter sets in.  Here are three things you should do to properly prepare your home for the upcoming fall season. 1.  Many people don't think of changing the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors as part of preparing their home for the fall.  However, the safety of your family could depend on this one little step that many people neglect to do.  While you're at it, you should also check your fire extinguishers as well. 2.  Another often neglected task is cleaning and inspecting your fireplace and chimney before using it for the first time of the season.  Again, the safety of your family is at stake. 3.  Exposed plumbing pipes can create a huge problem when the temperatures dip below freezing.  Therefore, it's important to wrap all of your exposed plumbing pipes with foam tubes and cover all your exterior faucets with the appropriate foam covers. Consider putting together a fall maintenance checklist to make sure everything that needs to be done actually gets done.  If you would like more information about our homeowners insurance services, please contact Cook, Disharoon & Greathouse in Oakland, CA for assistance.  We look forward to serving you.
