Getting Your Home Truly Clean
You know that spring is the time for deep cleaning your home. What you may not know, though, is exactly how to go about doing that. You want to lift off the layer of dirt and grime in your home during your spring cleaning, but you need the right tools to actually make that happen. We are here to help, and offer the following home cleaning tips.
- Carpets/Rugs: Heaven only knows what kind of dirt is dug into the roots of your carpet and rugs. Now is the perfect time to rent a steam cleaner and truly clean your carpets, giving your family a fresh canvas across which to paint its memories (but hopefully not stains!) this year.
- Doormat: Your doormat is one of the first things your guests will see. If it is looking worn or grimey, replace it this spring.
- Gutters: After the winter, your gutters and downspouts are probably filled with leaves and debris. Clean them out so your home can have the drainage it needs to avoid water damage in the face of spring showers.
- Paperwork: Shred any documents you no longer need, and clear any unnecessary files off of your computer. Then, organize your filing system for the paperwork you do need, and back up any important data from your computer onto an external hard drive.
- Coffee Maker: You rely on this little machine to get your day started, so it deserves some care. Fill the carafe with half white vinegar, half water. Run half of a cycle, then turn off your machine for an hour and let the white vinegar sit in it to break down any mineral deposits. Complete the cycle, then run a few cycles of plain water to get rid of the vinegar taste.
